National Eating Disorders Awareness Week

Image
Hi, everyone. Happy, happy Monday -- I do apologize for the lack of blog posts last week! Due to a bout of sickness, I was stuck in a fetal position in my bed, binge-watching the BBC's "Victoria," and sipping ginger tea; life doesn't always work in our favor, and we must roll with the punches. Luckily, I'm back to normal, and am so happy to return to blogging. Hopefully, you had a wonderful weekend, and are ready to steamroll your way through the next four marvelous days. Why are they going to be marvelous? Well, because I say so. And also because, dear reader, this happens to be National Eating Disorders Awareness Week. If you've been visiting my little corner of the Internet for a while, or know me in person, you're likely aware that I'm a huge  advocate for mental health and body positivity. A healthy state of mind is just as important, if not more important, than physical health (in my most humble opinion). I am of the fundamental belief tha

Be Your Own Valentine

Hello, dear reader! Today is a very special day for a certain company called Hallmark. Have you heard of it? Probably. They sell cards and Love Is Magic! Unicorn Musical Stuffed Animals and... ya know... chocolate? Just a wild guess. Well, Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. All jokes aside, Valentine's Day is a really weird holiday. Some people simply adore it, post adorable pictures, and probably go out for a fancy dinner. Other people couldn't care either way. It's that bizarre time in life where people are changing mentally and physically, all while attempting to discover who they are. We are all trying to be ourselves in a crowd - that is to say, an individual among individuals. Confused much? Yeah. Me too. Trying to fit in is confusing; although practically everyone wants to belong, we make it so hard for each other. We are judgmenta

Clarise the Poet's Guest Post: Pursuing Your Passion - A Way of Life

Image
Happy Friday, my lovely readers! I sincerely hope you've had a week brimming with adventures, learning, and pure joy. Today, I am beyond excited to introduce you all to one of my dearest friends, Clarise the Poet ! Clary is many things - a tea fanatic, a sock enthusiast, and a complete goofball, but also one of the most introspective and eloquent people you will ever meet. I know that in today's guest post, Clarise's beautifully composed piece will bring you as much joy as it brought me. She's magical that way - she never ceases to inspire. And without further ado, I shall hand the pen (or keyboard?) over to my amazing friend. Take it away, Clary! In a recent conversation with my lovely friends, we tackled the dichotomy of passions versus hobbies. We all went around weighing in on our views on the topic of the hour (or rather, the allotted 45 minutes we have to eat lunch and converse), contrasting what we do for fun and what we do with seriousness. Since m

Fun fact: I live pretty far away from my school, in a rather snowy part of the country. Therefore, especially in the winter months, it takes me quite a long time to travel from the warmth of my bed to first period English. It's really not that big of a deal - I've always adored learning and challenging myself, and my friends are wonderfully amazing. But simultaneously... no one really enjoys hour-long commutes. Because I have to leave home so early, I've sped up my morning routine as much as possible. This means shorter showers (which is a good thing - let's save the water!), slightly messier hair (oh well - who cares, anyway), and morning meals that are a little bit less exciting. I simply don't have the time to whip up an omelette or poached eggs and lox over cauliflower rice anymore. But fear not, dear reader! There is a solution. Instead, I meal prep some roasted vegetables and soft-boiled eggs. They're pretty good, I suppose, but one cannot have vegeta
