Toothsome Chocolate Shake!

This past spring, my family and I traveled to Orlando, Florida to visit - you guessed it! - The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios. If you haven't gotten the hint, I happen to be a HUGE Potterhead. My Chromebook is trying to tell me that Potterhead isn't a word; I assure you that it is. I absolutely adore the world that J.K Rowling fashioned with little more than a pencil and scraps of paper. Or should I say... a quill and some parchment? Harry Potter has been a big part of my life. I still remember my dad reading the novels to me when I was six or seven, right before bed. Anyway. We had just arrived at our hotel in Universal Studios, and I was already starting to feel those magnificent, magical vibes. We deposited our things in our hotel room, and took a ferry to Downtown Universal Studios for a bite to eat. We ended up at a restaurant called Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen. Wow. That place was fascinating.

From the outside, it appeared to be this crazy steampunk factory. It was ebony black, with accents of gold and decorative gears. A few smokestacks were scraping the sky, emitting cool steam. Giant windows provided a view of people chatting and eating happily inside. The foyer was even more breathtaking; cocoa beans ran in pipes along the ceiling, and to the right, a gift shop full of sumptuous chocolates was bustling with visitors. To the left, there was a milkshake and dessert bar, while the dining area was situated straight ahead. For this post, the most important part of Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen is the milkshake and dessert bar. Take note that this eatery was not known for serving ordinary milkshakes. Oh, no, no, no. The milkshakes here were utterly phenomenal. The brownie shake, for instance, had an ENTIRE brownie on top. And the strawberry cheesecake? An actual slice of delectable cheesecake. Mom salivated over her own birthday cake milkshake and gobbled down the confetti cake on top in a heartbeat. Now, I am a chocolate fan. I almost like a square of quality dark chocolate as much as Harry Potter. Needless to say, I was very tempted by this unique restaurant. Everything looked absolutely delicious.

Okay. We've jumped two months from my family's experience at Toothsome to today. This morning, two things happened. I began to think about our great trip in Universal. I also made up a smoothie for breakfast and hoped for the best. Let me tell you - I was nothing short of jubilant when my smoothie tasted exactly as I had imagined the milkshake at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feat Kitchen would! Sure, maybe it was a little less rich and creamy. But it was amazing! This smoothie is much more like a shake, and is undoubtedly my new favorite. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Perhaps close your eyes, and imagine sitting at Universal Studios in a Hogwarts robe, slurping it all up. After all, this confection is named after Universal's own Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Restaurant.

Toothsome Chocolate Shake - Serves 1
Ingredients

  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (while it is not entirely Paleo, as it has brown rice protein, I really love the brand Orgain.)
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream OR coconut milk
  • A decent amount of ice
  • 2 Tbsps almond butter
  • 2 Tbsps extra dark cocoa powder (I like Hershey's Special Dark)
  • 1-2 Tbsps monk fruit
Execution
It's pretty darn simple. Put all of the ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. If you want your shake a little less thick, use 1 cup of water and 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream or coconut milk. Enjoy!

Go have an adventure, and be inspired.
